The 2018 Dulcimer Days festival marks the 44th year the festival is held in Coshocton, with the purpose of preserving and promoting traditional music, played on traditional instruments.  Dulcimers – mountain and hammered – are the featured instruments, but there are also banjos, guitars, whistles, bowed psalteries, autoharp, and ukuleles.  These instruments can be heard in concerts, workshops, and jam sessions – and you may hear them played along the streets of Roscoe.

Coshocton Dulcimer days is co-sponsored by Central Ohio Technical College – committed to working with the community to provide cultural experiences - by providing a wonderful venue for workshops and performances!   Workshops will be offered on mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltery, ukulele, bodhran, Native American flute, and autoharp – with the opportunity to learn new skills or sharpen acquired skills.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the Headliners’ Concert – held on Saturday evening in the sanctuary of the Roscoe United Methodist Church and featuring nationally known artists.  In addition to this headliners concert, there are mini-concerts held during the day at the college. The festival also includes a Gospel Sing on Sunday morning, two scheduled jams on Friday evening – a traditional jam and a “slow and easy” jam, vendors selling instruments, instruction books, CDs, etc. and the Mid-East Regional Championships for hammered and mountain dulcimers on Sunday afternoon.  The winner in each category is then eligible to compete in Kansas at the national competition.

Coshocton Dulcimer Days is family-friendly and provides a setting where everyone is invited to participate, no matter the skill level, in playing - and listening to - music that reflects our musical roots and our cultural heritage.  It takes place in the restored Roscoe Village where even the buildings seem to invite you to play some traditional old-time music!
