Homeschool Days September 13 & 14; 10am - 5pm

Begin your day at the Roscoe Village Visitor Center where you will purchase your tickets, receive a map, see the dioramas and view Ditches of Destiny. Take home a hands-on Canal Era craft.

Visit the costumed interpreters in the Living History buildings on the Canal Town Journey tour.  SEE how broomcorn was fashioned into brooms. HEAR the click of the weaver's loom as she makes cloth out of yarn.  SMELL the coal burning at the Village Smithy.  WRITE on a slate at the one-room school. GRIND coffee beans at the Doctor’s House.

No trip to Roscoe Village is complete without a relaxing cruise along a 1 1/2 mile stretch of canal in the horse-drawn Monticello III Canal boat. Part of the Lake Park Recreational Complex, the forty-five minute ride allows your family to experience this four mile per hour mode of early transportation. The canal boat captain provides the passengers with a little insight into life on the canal during its 1830's heyday.

You may also wish to visit the nationally accredited Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum has four permanent exhibit galleries: American Indian, Historic Ohio, Decorative Arts and East Asian. A fifth gallery displays temporary exhibits that range in topics from art to history.
